RMC Membership Meeting June 19

Longtime friend of Local 1101, lawyer Marvin Anderman spoke and answered questions about wills, trusts, and social security disability. There was also an update on our many political struggles: to protect our pensions and medical benefits, to stop Voice Link, to bring call center jobs back to New York, to support the Cablevision Techs, to oppose the forced transfers out of 140 West Street, and to support those political candidates who have been our allies.

Retirees once again filled the conference room at the Local for the second quarterly meeting of the newly revived 1101 RMC April 3.

Local 1101 Vice Presidents Mike Baxter and Al Russo and Local 1101 Health Care Coordinator Pat McManus were on hand to give an overview and answer questions about the changes in vendors and benefits in the new contract. See the Retiree Benefits Page of this website for more information

Al and Mike also brought retirees up to date about the ongoing fight to halt the transfer of over a thousand CWA members from West St. to Brooklyn and asked the retirees to be prepared to help, as we did during the Verizon contract mobilization. See the Local 1101 website for updates on this struggle and watch for emails explaining how RMC members can assist our brothers and sisters in lower Manhattan.

District 1 Retired Members Council VP Pat Welch laid out the struggle of the CWA Cablevision techs to beat back James Dolan's union busting in Brooklyn and fight for a union contract. Click here for the website and here for the facebook page for more information. Members were also informed of the Union's opposition to "NAFTA on Steroids", the Trans Pacific Partnership.

Pizza and sodas were served compliments of the Local, and a 50/50 raffle was held to raise money for the RMC chapter and send one lucky member home with a little extra cash. Thanks to all the retirees and 1101 officers and staff who contributed to another successful meeting.

1101 RMC Adopts Bylaws
Elects Officers

Over 40 retirees packed the conference room at Local 1101 January 15, 2013 to finally bring the Local's Retired Members Council Chapter "up to code" by voting in a current set of bylaws and then electing a slate of officers, The meeting was chaired by retired 1101 member and current RMC District 1 President Pat Welch and included a presentation by long time Local 1101 lawyer Marvin Anderman and a drop-in to say hello and show support from all the Local 1101 Executive Board available that day.

Thanks to everyone who made the trek into Manhattan and worked to make this meeting such a success, including guests and supporters from 1103 and 1106 RMCs, and the officers and staff of Local 1101 for their help in planning and promoting the event, and kicking things off by treating the retirees to pizza.
